Pinks for Pearls
A Finishing Class with Jackie DuPlessis
The Pinks for Pearls hexagon etui is a two section, four panel etui. The front and back hexagon sections tie together at top and bottom with a wonderful hand-dyed double satin silk ribbon. The front section is a two sided piece, showcasing a functional pin keep area and linen memory pocket. The back section has two linen, pink silk lined panels. An interior pleated pink silk pocket panel is attached to stitched back panel with a silk gusset creating an additional pouch area. This tiny heirloom was created to store family pearls but it will also function as a feminine sewing etui - Stowing your treasured tools and mementos.
The fabric is 30 count Legacy linen with hand-dyed silk fibers for stitching. The kit includes: three different widths of hand-dyed silk ribbon, silk taffeta, and a string of wax pearls. Also included will be a surprise piece to stitch and to add to the set.
Additional items available for purchase to add to the etui include: a Shaker-style carrier lined with silk taffeta and embellished with stitching, a scrimshaw thread winder, a folding needlebook, a pin cushion, a scissors fob, a tape measure holder, and a thread holder.
This is a finishing class which means that the stitching must be done in advance and kits will be available in mid-December. The class to finish the etui will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 10 am until 4 pm at the Yarmouth, Maine town hall meeting room.
