NEW ENGLAND REGION OUTREACH REPORT
REGION NEWS:
Reports were received from 9 chapters with no response from 3 chapters.
Berkshire Chapter - No activity reported this period.
Cape Cod Chapter- No activity reported this period.
Celestial Stitchers Chapter- Seven members participated in a stitch in held February 5th at the
Shrewsbury Library. Members split into 3 groups in various places in the library to be more
accessible. Brochures were handed out. A photo of Lorie Welker demonstrating stitch was
featured in the Shrewsbury Chronicle.
Central Massachusetts Chapter - No report received
Connecticut River Valley Chapter -No activity reported this period.
Green Mountain Chapter - Summer stitch-ins are being organized at local libraries, with
bookmarks being stitched as hand outs.
Hope Chapter - No report received
Mayflower Chapter - Mayflower members made 16 hats for premies and 2 pairs of booties
donated to the Rhode Island Hospital for Women and Infants, 27 finger puppets donated to
the Sturdy Memorial Hospital and 3 Kissing Pillows to be given to the local HUGS chapter--
Help Us Get Safe who have been active in the this project Also they continue to collect floss for
the Women's Co-op in South Africa.
Merrimack Valley Chapter - The Merrimack Valley Chapter is continuing to work on the 100
Kissing Pillows reported on in the November report.
Northern New England Chapter - Nine chapter members exhibited 38 stitched items at the
Wolfeboro Library the month of December. Pieces included five group correspondence
courses were included as well as seminar pieces. The library has asked the chapter to have
another exhibit next year.
A member made up 6 kits and donated them to the Wolfeboro Area Armed Services Support
Group who sent them to Wolfeboro area men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Pioneer Valley Chapter - No report received
Southern Maine Chapter - The Chapter donated nightgowns, underwear and socks for Soft
Voices, a shelter for bused women in Lewiston, Maine. Forty three bookmarks were donated
to the Maine Literacy Program. Fourteen stitchers participated in National Stitch in Public Day
in Brunswick.
